Upgrade from Google Drive Sync to Google Drive File Stream
Recently google pushing those who still having the old Google Drive Sync installed user to switch to their brand new application – Google Drive File Stream, because Support for Drive Sync already ended back in December, but the APIs that allow the tool to continue to function will be shut down on May 12, 2018. But some of the user may be afraid they will lose their data once they upgrade, so here I’ve compile a to do step by step for you to follow.
1). Login to you Google Drive via any web browser, double check does your files are updated.
2). Disconnect the Google Drive Sync app by log out from the program.
3). Uninstall Google Drive Sync
4). Double check your files still on you Google Drive via any web browser.
5). Delete your Drive Sync local folder or rename it to backup or move it to external hard disk.
6). Install Google Drive File Stream.
Difference between Google Drive Sync and Google Drive File Stream.
Drive Sync copies files and keeps them synced to your computer constantly, taking up a potentially significant amount of space.
